The Arty Pigeon Project

"I paint food and animals because they inspire nostalgic memories."

Overview

The Arty Pigeon Project started in September 2018 as an installation for the NY Affordable Art Fairs. Since then, over 300 different pigeons and animals have been placed in homes and business worldwide.

Using the traditional art medium of oil paints on wood panel, JJ takes the deadpan stare of an animal and adds a culinary twist on their crown. She's inspired by two main factors, first JJ at one time ran the public relations departments of the Maryland Zoo, the National Aquarium in Baltimore, and sat on the board of the American Zoo and Aquarium Association. In this capacity she was surrounded by the wonderful world of animal conservation and husbandry where she gained a love of all animals. And second, by her daughter who as a child would place the first bit of every meal on top of her head!
